TAVISTOCK have brought Cape Cobra colt Jay Stevens to the Ring this season for their return to A Division.
Stevens is an opening bowler who bowls a decent pace and is a handy batsman.
While playing for the Cobras, Stevens hooked up with Beuran Hendricks, who was at Tavistock three years ago and has since played for South Africa and in the Indian Premier League.
Chris Hutchins is around for the season following a year out in Bristol, which will improve the Moorlanders’ seam bowling options.
Phil Bees has joined the club from Cornwood, which adds to the club’s depth of experience.
Tavvy won the B Division by a distance last season. The challenge for skipper Shaun Daymond is to maintain the standards that got them up.
“We're looking to push on from a great season last year, and really establish ourselves as a strong A Division side,” said Daymond.
“I believe with the players we have, if we perform with the consistency and fight that we did last year we will compete in every game.”
