DEVON have recruited talent scouts around the county to make sure potential players do not slip through the net.
As part of an ongoing talent identification programme introduced in 2010, the county club has recruited experienced cricket eyes and ears in all four corners of the county.
Gwynne Jones, the cricket manager of the Premier League champions, North Devon CC, and former director of the Zimbabwe national academy, will be focusing on the North.
Keith Donohue, (pictured back in 1994) who made more than 100 appearances for Devon between 1983 and 2000, as well as representing the Minor Counties in South Africa and the British Police, has Plymouth as his patch.
Tim Western, recently appointed high performance manager of the Devon Lions will be looking after the South.
And Joel Murphy, an experienced Devon League cricketer who cut his teeth in Sydney Grade Cricket and recently took over the captaincy at Budleigh Salterton, will be looking at potential future talent in the East region
Neil Gamble, Devon’s CEO said: “We are delighted that individuals with the appropriate experience and knowledge are prepared to give up their time, free of charge, to help the county in this way.
“Roger Newman, our cricket director, spends many hours watching both league and youth matches in the County, but these extra pairs of eyes will be invaluable helping him to assess players with the potential to fulfil the requirements of Minor County cricket in the future.”
New Devon skipper Chris Bradley is keen to get more input from around the county and recently urged captains to call him with recommendations.
