Tansley takes four in four

HONITON'S Phil Tansley produced a cricketing curiosity against Seaton in the D Division and still ended up on the losing side.

Kiwi Tansley, a former Seaton player, took four wickets in four balls to slow Seaton chasing 155 to win in the East Devon derby at Court Lane.

'I got out then it went from bad to worse as we slipped from 110 for four to 110 for eight,' said Seaton skipper Ben Morgan.

Joe Berry (22no) and Ben Libby (18no) put on 45 unbroken to win the game for Seaton, who are five points clear at the top of the D Division.

EXMOUTH'S Greg Marks (left) had a game to remember against Kenn in the E Division East.

Marks, the former Budleigh Salterton wicket-keeper/batsman, took nine for 13 as Kenn were skittled out for 72 chasing Exmouth's 244 for four.

Marks had a hand in the other wicket to fall, taking a spectacular catch at mid-wicket to remove the batsman. Skipper Tom Stamford described the catch as 'spectacular'

Marks' son Finlay toured South Africa during the winter with Devon U15s.

There has only been one other nine-wicket haul in the E Division East before - Adrian Whitton's nine for 20 for Whimple against Axminster in 2009 - so Marks' figures are a new divisional best.

It was an eventful game as Exmouth's Julian Page scored a century then had to retire hurt.
