Tavistock want to be a challenger

TAVISTOCK welcome back Devon prospect Rhys Davis from a brief stint with Exmouth for the season ahead.

A number of team – Plympton among them – were keen to sign keeper-batter Davis when it got out he wasn’t staying at the Maer for a second summer.

However, the lure of the Ring proved too strong to resist and Davis will be back on Moorland turf once his school cricket commitments in Taunton allow.

Tavvy have signed a Western Province U19 player – Travis Muller – to bolster their batting. He is an opener and highly rated by talent scouts.

The bowling department is pepped up by the reappearance of Chris Hutchings, who spent much of last season in the United States.

One bowler Tavvy won’t be seeing is Andy Gauler, who has retired. All-rounder Chris Broughton is unlikely to feature often in the first half of the season due to work commitments.

Tavistock finished seventh out of ten last season. Anything below a top-five finish this term will be seen as a failure.
