Devon U17 Girls v Berkshire U17 Girls, 3rd June
On June 3rd, Devon played Berkshire at the picturesque ground of Budleigh Salterton. The composition of both sides was affected by absences due to injuries and impending exams, which gave opportunities to younger cricketers.

Berkshire won the toss and elected to bat. Most of Berkshire’s batsmen were able to play themselves in but found scoring difficult. Chloe Lyons top scored with 33. Devon’s bowling was a little below par and too many extras were given away. However, Becca Donohue (3 for 14) and Lydia Harris (1 for 21) were the pick of the bowlers and the younger players did well bowling at this level for the first time.

Devon’s openers set off at a fast pace, and at 86 for 0 after 15 overs it seemed likely that there would be an early finish. However, Berkshire’s spinners were able to slow down the scoring rate and after Frances Lausen was out for 38 wickets began to fall at regular intervals. Nicole Richards and Becca Donohue, though, were able to take Devon to the brink of victory before Nicole was out for a patient 68.

Becca Donohue was woman of the match for taking 3 for 14 off 9 overs and then scoring an extremely patient 6 not out to ensure a Devon win with 3 overs to spare.

Devon 164–5 (Nicole Richards 68, Frances Lausen 38) beat Berkshire 163-8 (Chloe Lyons 33; Becca Donohue 3-14) by 5 wickets
