On July 3rd, Devon played Buckinghamshire away at a leafy rural ground in Great Hampden.
Buckinghamshire won the toss and elected to bat. Buckinghamshire’s innings was dominated by Cesca D’Agostino who rode her luck well to score a hard hitting 85. Becca Donohue (3 for 18) and Nicole Richards (2 for 24) were Devon’s most successful bowlers, and Buckinghamshire finished on 183 for 9 after 45 overs.
In reply, Devon lost two early wickets but Tirion Swart – playing in her first U17 match – showed good shot selection and placement in scoring 24. However, when Devon lost two wickets in quick succession and were 56 – 4 it looked as though Buckinghamshire had the upper hand. However, Frances Lausen and Becca Donohue then joined together and showed excellent judgement in putting together a match winning partnership of 96 runs. When Becca was out for 21 Amelia Sydenham (14 not out) then joined Frances to see Devon home with an unbroken stand of 32.
