Hampshire U17 Girls v Devon U17 Girls, 1st June
On June 1st, Devon played Hampshire at the Rose Bowl. The match was delayed by two and a half hours due to heavy rain and the game reduced to 23 overs-a-side. That there was a game at all was due to the groundsmen, umpires and the sophisticated weather forecasting equipment at the Rose Bowl.

Hampshire won the toss and asked Devon to bat. Nicole Richards and Amara Carr with intelligent running between the wickets gave Devon an excellent start with a stand of 70 before Amara Carr was run out for 22. Frances Lausen then joined Nicole and scored a quick fire 24 off 21 balls before she was also run out. Devon finished on 145 for 2 after 23 overs with Nicole Richards unbeaten on 56 not out.

In reply, Hampshire batted positively but soon lost three wickets with Clara Nielson taking two wickets in one over. Aylish Cranstone and Chloe Micklethwaite then put on a rapid 44 runs for the fourth wicket until Chloe Micklethwaite was run out. Aylish Cranstone scored an excellent fifty but when she went – caught by wicket keeper Amara Carr off Nicole Richards – for 51 off 45 balls Hampshire struggled to keep up with the high scoring rate required. Becky Piddock picked up 4 for 29 with well flighted off spin.

Nicole Richards was woman of the match for Devon for her well-crafted 56 not out off 74 balls and taking an important wicket. Aylish Cranstone was Hampshire’s woman of the match for her fighting 51.

Devon 145–2 (Nicole Richards 56*, Frances Lausen 24, Amara Carr 22) beat Hampshire 117 all out (Aylish Cranstone 51; Becky Piddock 4-29) by 28 runs
