On August 14th, Somerset played Devon in the National Quarter-Final at King’s School, Bruton. Over two hours were lost to heavy rain and the game was reduced to 30 overs a side.
Somerset won the toss and put Devon in. Devon found run getting difficult against Somerset’s varied and accurate attack, and only Frances Lausen with 38 got into double figures. Emily Knight and Lauren Schrubsole took three wickets a piece and Kate Randall and Sophie Luff both took two wickets.
In reply, Somerset’s openers made a good start putting on 51 for the first wicket. Sophie Luff took Somerset to the edge of victory with a well-composed innings of 34. Ali Kelly was the pick of Devon’s bowlers with 2 for 8 off 5 overs.
Emily Knight was woman of the match after taking 3 wickets for 7 runs.
