Umpire called in to answer Bovey Tracey complaint
THE dust hasn't settled yet on last Saturday's Premier game between Bovey Tracey and Exmouth, in which seven lbw decisions were given in the Bovey innings.

Bovey Tracey were unhappy with the way the match was handled - not just on the field but off it - and complained about umpire Phil Matten.

DACO - the organisation responsible for appointing umpires to matches - deals with complaints against officials, not the Devon Cricket League.

While the exact nature of the complaint has not been made public, DACO have confirmed that Matten has been asked to attend a hearing to discuss the complaints.

Gavin Lane, the chairman of DACO, said: 'DACO has convened a hearing, to take place on Tuesday, August 28 at the Exeter Court Hotel, chaired by the DACO president Roger Moylan-Jones, to investigate a complaint concerning umpire Philip Matten at a cricket match between Exmouth CC and Bovey Tracey CC on Saturday, August 18.

'Matters of on-field cricket decisions will not be discussed.'
