Much of the original footage for the 2010 edition of the ECB Coaches Association Wings to Fly 7 DVD- Anatomy of an Ashes Series has been completed in Devon. Thanks to the sterling work of Alan Swift and Matt Theedom and the tremendous support and co-operation of parents, schools and players some of Devon's best county boys and girls have been involved. The sessions included looking at such varied topics as - Batting with a tailender and in partnerships; Captaincy; Pace bowling with accuracy, aggression and control; Spin bowling; Principles for the rehabilitation of a player; Batting against a swinging ball; Bowling on a flat pitch. The hard work and co-operation of the players together with splendid weather ensured that the project was successfully completed, not without mishap though as Pavi Mawalage managed to destroy one of the cameras via a lofted drive!!! The highlight of the final day had to be the participation of the delightful Charlotte Edwards, captain of the The Wings to Fly series of DVD's is one of the ECB's most prestigious coach education aids with a world wide circulation in excess of 20,000. It was a great complement to Devon's standing in cricket that the County was invited to stage the weeks filming. The DVD's production company, Sharp Focus, were exceedingly fortunate with the weather and the outstanding facilities at Sandford Cricket Club. If the final production is able to match the splendid setting of Sandford Cricket Club in glorious late summer weather the DVD will be well worth watching.. Note from Keith Tomlins ECB Senior Coach Education Manager ‘Wings to Fly’, is one of the most important resources that the ECB produce. It is seen annually by over 13000 coaches in We would like to thank DCB and Sandford CC for their great hospitality and co-operation in making it all happen. In particular we would like to acknowledge the assistance and support of Martin Webb, Matt Theedom and Alan Swift for making it possible and organising four days of glorious weather for us! |
