Devon maintained their lead at the top of Division 3 of the Womens County Championship with what was in the end a comfortable win away at Pershore. After winning the toss openers Heather Knight and Olivia Anderson made full use of the opening powerplay overs as they went off at four an over. Two quick wickets in the 15th over put the brakes on somewhat as Knight hit a full toss straight to Charlotte Haltom at square leg which was followed by a stunning catch from Katie Blunt diving full length to take a one handed catch from a full blooded drive by skipper Lottie Miles. Anderson was joined by Giselle Ansley and together the pair added a further 66 and at 127-2 with 19 overs left the visitors were well placed for a sizeable total. Worcester hit back though as they took three quick wickets as Devon lost Anderson for a well made 60, Ansley for 30 and Jodie Dibble for just four. Frances Lausen then joined Nicole Richards and together the pair set about rebuilding the innings and accelerated quite well to add an unbeaten 65 for the 6th wicket, Richards finishing unbeaten on 41 with Lausen adding 22 as Devon closed on 203-5 from their 50 overs.
A controlled bowling effort kept Devon in control as Worcestershire struggled to get above 3 an over at any point during their innings. All the bowlers contributed with 6 of the 8 used taking wickets. Giselle Ansley was her economical self and collected the wicket of the opening bat, Nicole Richards claimed the important wicket of Katie Blunt who miscued a full toss straight to Lottie Miles. Two wickets on debut for Tessa Dibble was just reward for her straight bowling and with Clara Nielson picking up the wicket of the dangerous Thea Brookes for 33 it was left to off spinner Becky Piddock to mop up the tail as she claimed 4-13 as Worcester were all out for 145 in the 46th over.
