Devon County Cricket Club
  Team

Process

The Devon County Cricket Club squad to play in the annual Minor Counties’ competitive programme will primarily be drawn from around twenty cricketers mostly playing in the Devon Premier League, many of whom are Devon born and have learnt their cricket within the County. Following guidelines set down by ECB, all sides chosen for Minor Counties’ fixtures will be selected on the basis of their being of an average age of 26 or under.

Net practice sessions, pre-season, will take place at the Ondaatje Centre at Exeter University, supervised by the County Club’s Director of Cricket, Keith Donohue, and other well qualified coaches.

Following a series of warm up games in early April, the County team will then be involved in a series of one day and three day MCCA organised matches throughout the summer.

In addition to the first team squad, selection may also be from the Devon Lions which exists to bring on able young cricketers between the ages of 17 and 21. The development of these players, through coaching and their playing of several games against top quality opposition, is designed to increase the pool of talented players from whom the County might draw.

Devon County Cricket Club play Oxfordshire County Cricket Club at Bovey Tracey.
